Hughes Beatty Limited has developed and grown into its current form over a period of 24 years. From it's humble beginnings the company has continued to expand to the present day with a turnover in excess of 10 million and directly employing over 100 staff. In addition to those directly employed the company also engages the services of many specialist sub-contractors to enable it to provide the complete Mechanical and Electrical services package to its clientele.

The company initially started trading on 4th November 1983 and was incorporated as K Hughes Electrical Ltd in 1984. The company was engaged in electrical contracting providing an installation and maintenance service on commercial and domestic contracts throughout the Cumbria area.

In 1998 the company acquired the long established mechanical engineering and plumbing firm of H P Beatty Ltd to enable the company to provide a broader range of services to clients.

Hughes Beatty Limited now encompasses the combined companies and possesses a wealth of experience acquired over decades augmented with up to date training in current and future technical, regulatory and safety issues.

The company and employees are qualified through Corgi registration for gas work, Oftec for Oil work and the NICEIC for electrical work.

The company is able to undertake works for electrical, mechanical and plumbing installation and maintenance ranging in scope from minor repairs and servicing in a domestic environment to major installations in a commercial and industrial situation. Recent works have or are being carried out for Capita Symonds, Cumbria County Council, Nuclear Decommissioning Agency, Cumbria Police Authority, Cumbria Probation Board, Eden Housing Association, Eden District Council, Carlisle City Council, Allerdale Borough Council, Lancaster City Council, DEFRA, BUPA Care Homes, St Martins College, Carlisle College, The University of Northumbria and The University of Cumbria on contracts throughout Cumbria and the North West.
